Eligibility

Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR.

A prospective member must provide documentation documenting her lineage. The Chapter Registrar and Membership Committee will assist prospective members in identifying a patriot ancestor and preparing their application. Documentation of birth and parentage will be required. The Registrar will help in identifying any additional documentation that will be needed to complete the application.

Application Process

DAR volunteers in chapters throughout the country provide guidance and assistance with the entire application process. Admission to membership in the National Society is through a chapter or as a Member-At-Large.
